Jardinia Landscapes is a garden design and build company, meaning that we are your only point of contact from the initial consultation right through to build completion and sign off – managing all the elements of your garden project.
However, we recognise that some clients may wish to appoint their own contractors – and in this scenario we offer a design only service.
Design & Build Service
1. Initial Design Consultation
For clients less than 25 miles from our base, this meeting is free of charge. It lasts for around one hour and during this meeting we will discuss your ideas and aspirations for your garden and give you the opportunity to review examples of our completed projects.
Following this meeting we will send you a brief summary of the main design objectives for the project and a written quotation for estimated design fees.
2. Site Survey
Before any design work starts we will conduct an accurate site survey, from which a scale drawing of your garden will be produced, including all levels and features. For more complex sites we may need to appoint a specialist land surveyor, the fee for which would be detailed separately. On the day of the survey we will also meet with you again, if possible, to add more detail to the design brief.
3. Design Plans
At the next stage we will produce an outline design of your new garden. This is used as a basis for discussion and to show you how our thinking is developing.
On agreement of the outline design, we will produce the Concept Design Plan, a fully labelled, colour, 2D drawing to scale. This may be supported by 3D visuals, together with site sections and elevations, if required.
4. Planting Design
We will produce a scaled, fully labelled Planting Design Plan (or plans) showing the number, species, location and ultimate size of every new plant in your garden, including any trees and hedging, together with reference images.
5. Constructions Drawings, Schedule of Works & Garden Build
If required, we can produce technical drawings for any complex features in your new garden (such as water features or pergolas)
We will then draw up a Schedule of Works and an itemised quotation for your garden build based on the design we have developed for you. This will include all elements of the hard and soft landscaping in your garden. On acceptance of the quotation and payment of a deposit we will slot your project into our work schedule and give you an estimated start date.
We undertake all the work ourselves – only using trusted sub-contractors that we have worked with for many years for more specialist elements.
6. After Care
We will provide a monthly maintenance schedule for all the planting in your new garden, care advice for any special features and natural stone surfaces, and are happy to schedule visits to monitor garden development and provide further advice.
Design Only Service
The Design Only service follows exactly the same procedure as our Design & Build service, but at Stage 5 we will provide detailed written specifications and tender documentation on completion of the construction and technical drawings. You are then free to take the design out for tender by your own contractor(s).
Should you then require us to, we can visit the site on a regular basis to monitor the build and ensure the design is being followed as expected. This service is subject to an extra charge.
Services for Architects and Developers
We regularly work with architects and developers to create both hard and soft landscape schemes for planning submissions and other general development requirements.
Whilst we are not planning consultants, we are able to assist with planning submissions and liaise with case officers to assist with the discharge of planning conditions, if required.
